GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Wisconsin attorney general Josh Kaul at the Green Bay Courthouse this morning announced the filing of a new lawsuit over PFAS contamination.
The suit against Tyco Fire Protection and Johnson Controls allege that both companies were lax in disclosing PFAS contamination in Northeast Wisconsin.
“We alleged in the complaint that sampling first showed levels of elevated PFAS in 2013,” Kaul said. “Some years passed before notice was provided to the Department of Natural Resources.”
The DNR forwarded the case to the Department of Justice.
The contamination occurred near Marinette. Throughout northeast Wisconsin, cities and towns have struggled with groundwater contamination as a result of PFAS.
The chemicals are used in fire extinguishers.
