GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — UW-Green Bay held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for it’s newest addition, a one-of-a-kind Norwegian Viking house.
The home was donated by Owen and Elspeth Christianson.
The pair have been studying Scandinavia’s Viking age for more than 40 years.
The pair hand built the replica home.
Heidi Sherman,UW-Green Bay associate professor of history, tells FOX 11…..
“They knew how to cook and farm and how to build things so we can relearn these skills that we’ve forgotten in the cyber age. It’s one of the best ways to actually learn.”
UWGB plans to use the home to teach students about the day-to-day experiences of 11th century Vikings.
