BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) – It’s bad enough when adults have to fight off a killer like cancer….when kids have to do it, it can be even worse.
That’s why the eastside branch of the Greater Green Bay YMCA is putting on its 3rd “Making Amazing Kids Stronger” campaign.
Co-organizer Michelle Pierquet says the target range is kids from 6 to 13.
“maybe we let the kids try things from zumba to yoga to maybe some small, strength training exercises”.
Included is a session devoted to nutrition and peer relationships.
Also making a difference for those survivors is the program encourages parents and siblings to be a part as well.
“it’s nice for the kids to their parents and siblings are in the building, with them”
Pierquet says the goal is to not only help the kids gain strength as they recover, but make new friends and increase self-confidence too.
The 8 week long MAKS program will be held Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30. Call the Eastside YMCA at 436-1200 for more information.
The Making Amazing Kids Stronger program is a follow-up to the LiveStrong At The YMCA, which has proven to be a popular 12 week-long course targeting adult cancer survivors.
