APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The Appleton Common Council unanimously approved a railroad ‘quite zone’ Wednesday.
The plan covers nearly two dozen railroad crossings across the city
In order to create the quiet zones, the city would need to make improvements at each of the railroad crossings.
Those improvements include adding things like medians and extra signage.
The expected cost of the plan is around $800,000.
City leaders expect to have details worked out by the end of the year.
They are also hoping the money for the project is set aside in the city’s 2018 budget.
