GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Green Bay man is facing a half-dozen charges in connection with a domestic abuse incident.
22-year-old Edward L. Williams is charged with two counts of felony intimidation of a victim, along with misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing an officer.
According to the criminal complaint, Green Bay police were called to a disturbance in progress at an apartment in the 1100 block of Doty Street on the afternoon of July 21.
When officers arrived, they were told by a woman and her daughter that Edward Williams had run into the alleyway. Officers say Williams emerged from behind a house and allegedly confronted them while, “sweating profusely, yelling and screaming.”
The cops urged Williams to calm down, while he kept saying he was going to, “take off and run again. He did not want to go to jail and did not want to be approached.” Williams was able to follow commands to cooperate and he laid down on the ground.
Williams was then put in the back of a patrol car and was read his Miranda Rights. At that point, Williams became, “extremely hostile and demanded that the officer shoot him and started kicking at the back window.” Officers took him immediately to jail for everyone’s safety.
The complaint states that Williams and the mom had been dating for about 3 months. Williams, earlier in the day, had allegedly asked to use the woman’s phone to go onto his Facebook account. She told officers that Williams didn’t log into his account and he, “only wanted to look at her text messages and her Facebook account.”
Williams apparently saw a text conversation involving another male friend, which upset him and refused to calm down. He then allegedly picked up a fan and threw it into the wall, breaking the fan and putting a hole in the drywall.
The woman told Williams that she, “didn’t want to be with him anymore and he needed to leave.” They continued to argue, causing the daughter to get involved. Then, Williams began pushing and shoving with both females.
The daughter told officers that she only got involved because Williams was calling her mom names. Williams also grabbed both cell phones and broke them.
In the past, the woman stated, Williams broke a 55-inch TV that belonged to her. She didn’t report it to police but admitted that she knows about Williams’ violent past. Williams also allegedly made past comments that, “no restraining order was going to stop him from coming back.”
Edward Williams returns to Brown County court on October 31 for a status conference. If convicted of all charges, Williams faces more than 20 years in prison.
