GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – It’s sad to think that another summer at Green Bay’s only amusement park has come and gone.
Bay Beach officially closed for the season on Sunday.
The park achieved another successful year with over 3 million riders enjoying the Zippin Pippin, Rockin Tug and many other attractions.
Manager Jason Arnoldi says the 20 day shutdown of the parks only roller coaster did have an effect on attendance.
“What we saw was basically the amount of riders we had per day of the Zippin Pippin is roughly what we lost on those days.”
Arnoldi says weather is also a big factor as July and August saw many hot, humid days.
Still the millions of riders this season matched record amounts seen in 2015. The Zippin Pippin, Rockin’ Tug and Giant Slide continue to be the most popular rides at the park.
Arnoldi says it’s now time to prep for next year. The amusement park will be introducing a new ride to the park and also celebrating a major milestone.
“So we still have some things going on for 2016 yet and then we’ll get everything cleaned up and put away for the year and start planning out for 2017…any changes we want to make, getting the Falling Star ready for its debut, also we have our 125th birthday next year.”
