BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A plea hearing has been scheduled for the former boyfriend of a murder victim who is charged in a domestic incident involving her sister.
Douglass Detrie is due back in court January 8, following Monday’s scheduling conference, on charges that he made advances on Nicole VanderHeyden’s sister Heather Meyer while they were driving together in Allouez back in February.
When she refused, Detrie reportedly would not let Meyer out of the car and sped off, before finally stopping several miles down the road.
VanderHeyden was killed in May 2016 in Bellevue.
Detrie was originally arrested for her murder but was never charged.
George Burch has been charged in connection with VanderHeyden’s death. His attorneys are expected to present arguments that Detrie is the actual killer when Burch’s trial starts February 16.
