GREEN BAY/ DE PERE (WTAQ-WLUK) – A social media post, with a clown photo, threatened 10 Brown County schools Sunday morning.

As of 3:22 p.m. Sunday, the post was shared more than 400 times with more than 300 comments. The Green Bay Police Department said it’s investigating the post and went on to say it found no specific threat and the post did not describe any specific actions.
Capt Jeremy Muraski spoke with WLUK.
“Both the Green Bay Police Department and the school district take the safety of students very seriously and we are therefore taking precautions to ensure the safety of students, staff, and families”
Muraski added, the department will have more officers around area schools Monday.
“This is a precautionary measure and should not be cause for alarm. We will continue to monitor the situation and are closely coordinating our efforts with the Green Bay Area Public Schools.”
The Green Bay Area Public School District released the following message to parents:
Dear Parents & Guardians:This message is to inform you that tomorrow morning the Green Bay Police Department will have extra presence at your child’s school tomorrow as a precautionary measure to a “creepy clown” Facebook message targeting several schools in the area.While there was no specific threat identified and is believed to be a hoax, student safety is our highest priority.If you have any questions, please contact your principal tomorrow morning.
The Unified School District of De Pere and School District of West De Pere released the following statement to parents:
This message is to inform you that the West De Pere School District and the De Pere School District are working with the De Pere Police Department to take coordinated action with respect to a “Creepy Clown” facebook message targeting several schools in the area. This is a precautionary measure and should not be cause for alarm.While there was no specific threat identified and it is believed to be a hoax, student safety is our highest priority. If you have any questions, please contact your principal tomorrow morning. As always, if you see anything suspicious please contact the police department immediately.
