GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Two local humane societies are being taken over by one from Milwaukee.
The Door County and Bay Area societies say they have limited resources and struggle with operational costs.
Wisconsin Humane Society CEO Anne Reed says there will be no layoffs or pay cuts.
“Together as a single organization we will become an even more powerful force for Wisconsin’s animals, with a voice that will always be heard and continue to pioneer the most impactful work for the animals and the people who love them.”
Boards for all three shelters unanimously approved the deal last month.
WHS is helping the two create plans for the future.
It previously acquired humane societies in Racine and Ozaukee counties.
