GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A recent fire scare at the Brown County Recycling Transfer Station is serving as a reminder of the proper disposal of batteries for your electronics.
“Don’t throw them in the trash” Mark Walter of the Brown County Recycling Transfer Station says it was a quick find by a loader operator that prevented disaster.
“He noticed something smoking and quickly found it. That situation could have been much worse.”
The Brown County Recycling Transfer Station reporting they have had two similar occurrences in the recent years.
“In both of those cases it was an e-cigerate that caused the problem.”
Walter added if you have to plug it in to charge it, don’t throw it in the trash or recycling. Isolate and take it to a place that can dispose of it.
