APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Appleton police arrested a man on at least his 12th drunk driving offense overnight.
53 year old Patrick Schober was booked into the Outagamie County Jail Thursday morning, jail records show, for a count of “Operating While under Influence 10th Offense or more.”
Sergeant Dave Lund of the Appleton Police Department said it was a routine late night traffic stop.
“The vehicle was operating after 2:00 a.m. with headlights off.”
Lund said Scober failed his field sobriety test.
He was arrested for operating while intoxicated, and taken to jail on a parole violation.
Lund said the officer later learned about Schober`s past.
“The officer was able to determine that he had 11 prior convictions.”
According to online court records, Schober pleaded no contest to his 11th OWI for an incident in 2012.
Lund said while it may be the 12th time getting caught, there is another concern.
“We know that are probably many times when this individual was operating while over the legal limit, but did not get caught.”
Schooner was charged Thursday in court.
