Green Bay, WI (WTAQ) – Recovery from this week’s severe storms and floods continues in places like Texas and Oklahoma….Wisconsinites are quick to lend a helping hand.
Eight volunteers from Wisconsin Red Cross chapters, from Milwaukee to Eau Claire, are on the ground.
Barbara Behling is with the Red Cross. She says the volunteers will serve a 2 to 3 week long shift, helping storm victims get back on their feet. They’re trained in nursing, mental health counseling, and running a shelter.
Behling says the Red Cross operates well in these situations because volunteers can step in for multiple week assignments…or short term ones.
She says about 65 volunteers worked to help the victims of the recent Green Bay apartment fire on Danz Avenue.
