DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) — St. Norbert College will be upgrading four of it’s residence halls over the summer.
The residence halls, used by first and second year students, will undergo a $6 million renovation, bringing them up to contemporary standards.
“Almost 700 students will be impacted by this investment,” College President Dr. Brian Bruess told WTAQ. “The [halls] will be fresh, contemporary, and have everything a in the way of technology and accessories that a student would want…they’re old, and they need to be updated.”
Sensenbrenner, Madelaine/Lorraine Hall, Bergstrom and Victor McCormick halls are slated to receive the upgrades.
It’s the first time the college has taken on debt for a project in around 15 years.
“In the last 14-15 years we’ve done over $150 million in new or renovated constructions, and all of those investments were donor related,” said Bruess.
Bruess says the college is taking advantage of low interest rates.
It’s part of the college’s 15 year residence hall expansion plan. Projects already completed include the construction of Gries Hall, renovations to Burke Hall and the purchase of the Prémontré and Xanten apartment buildings. Michels Hall and Mary Minahan McCormick Hall will undergo their own renovations in the future.
