MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) – A new summary report on last month’s Trestle Trail shooting has been released to the public on Thursday by Menasha police.
The May 3 incident claimed the lives of Jon Stoffel, his 11-year-old daughter Olivia and Adam Bentdahl.
Stoffel’s wife Erin survived the shooting, which happened on the Trestle Trail Bridge near Fritse Park on the Town of Menasha.
In the reports’ conclusion, authorities found that, “the investigation does show the shooter had a long history of depression, alcohol dependency and suicidal (and sometimes homicidal) thoughts. Based upon the disagreement the shooter had earlier in the day he made the decision to become intoxicated, arm himself with two handguns and take the lives of three people and physically injure one.”
