GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Aron Obrecht will move on to the general election in Green Bay’s 6th aldermanic district.
Obrecht won a tiebreaker Monday by pulling the winning envelope at city hall. Obrecht tied with Andrew Gerlach for second place with 73 votes each in last week’s primary election. To determine who would advance, the two candidates met to cast lots.
Obrecht now faces Steven Campbell, who received 164 votes, in the April 5 general election.
“Got to get out there and meet the people of District 6,” Obrecht said. “I might have gotten on the ballot, but Steve’s way ahead, and we’ve got to fight — I don’t want to say fight, but we’ve got to get ahead of that. Hopefully get some more voter turnout than 2% of our district.”
A fourth candidate, Paul Boucher, was eliminated after receiving 18 votes last week.
District 6 covers the city’s northeast side, along the bay.
