APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – A home in Appleton was heavily damaged by a chimney fire overnight.
Fire officials were called to the home in the 1600 block of Hillcrest Drive around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Three adults and 2 children who were sleeping at the time got out safely thanks to working smoke detectors.
Crews extinguished the fire coming through the roof quickly upon arrival.
The Appleton Police Department, Grand Chute Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, and We Energies Gas and Electrical Divisions also assisted at the scene.
The fire is still under investigation.
