APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – We’re learning more about the suspect arrested in connection with the attack of a woman on an Appleton trail.
Police say 17-year-old Milan Stewart has been jailed on multiple charges and is expected in court Monday afternoon. Authorities referred charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, strangulation and suffocation, false imprisonment and substantial battery.
According to police, a woman was jogging on the Newberry Trail near Lawrence University’s Banta Bowl around 11:40 a.m. when Stewart allegedly attacked her from behind and forced her to the ground.
Two other people, who were on bicycles at the time, scared off the teen. One of them chased after the suspect, but he got away.
Police were later able to locate Stewart and arrested him. He admitted to being involved in the incident. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident.
In court Monday, a judge set Stewart’s bond at $50,000.
