Green Bay, WI (WTAQ) – A central Wisconsin man, injured in a workplace accident in February, wants to thank the doctors, nurses, and the facility, that helped him recover.
And he’s planning to do it in a very unique way.
50 year old Bob Coley suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over much of his body in the accident.
He wound up in the burn center at UW Health in Madison. Doctors there told him to expect to be there for at least 40 days.
He was out in less than 2 weeks and back to one of his favorite pastimes, water-skiing, by April.
Now, he wants to turn his skill on the skis into a thank you.
He’s hoping people will kick-in some cash toward his effort to cross Lake Michigan on a Sky-Ski, basically a ski with a seat and a rudder, sometime in mid-August.
A friend in a boat will pull him. Coley believes he can make the crossing in three hours or so.
The route that’s been chosen will take him from Manitowoc to Ludington, Michigan.
