WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ) – A not guilty plea was entered Tuesday by a registered sex offender accused of cutting off his monitoring bracelet, leaving the area and wasn’t captured until over a year later in Minnesota.
On Tuesday, Phillip Rath Jr. waived his preliminary hearing in Waupaca County court. Rath pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to report his location. No trial date has been set.
Authorities say he disappeared in April 2014, but was taken into custody earlier this year.
Rath was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 1993.
