GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Increased demand for training and assistance in the food service industry is helping Northeast Wisconsin Technical College to launch a culinary specialist diploma program.
Beginning this spring, NWTC will offer classes which will take place in the classroom kitchen inside the campus’ Student Center. Coursework will include training and practical experience in food preparation, sanitation, nutrition, marketing, dining trends, catering, management, culinary vocabulary and work ethics.
“NWTC has received a lot of questions about community involvement. I do see a future with our students catering, selling and donating food in the community as well as a great opportunity to partner with area restaurants for career experiences including internships or apprenticeships,” Hospitality Program Coordinator Lisa Hickman said in a news release.
It’s a 31-credit program which aims to prepare students for jobs including sous chef, banquet chef, pastry chef, restaurant owner, restaurant manager and personal chef.
