MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin lottery players have again failed to cash in around $2 million in winning tickets over the past year.
The Appleton Post-Crescent says that’s the low end of annual $2 to $4 million in unclaimed prizes. Players have left over $57 million on the table since 1997.
Lottery officials say many winning tickets are forgotten or trashed.
As in past years, they say some players may have tossed lotto tickets because they didn’t win the jackpot — and they either didn’t know they won smaller prizes, or didn’t think it was worth the effort to turn them in.
