Green Bay, WI (WTAQ) – Major development plans were revealed Wednesday evening for Green Bay’s east side.
Festival Foods and Kwik Trip have a plan to build a supermarket and a convenience store on University Avenue.
Both stores would be in the 2400 block of University Avenue.
The plan also calls for removing part of University Avenue, and making it into a parking lot.
The Festival store would be slightly larger than its Bellevue location.
It would employ about 240 people, 72 full-time and 160 part-time.
But Mark Ernst, a business owner on University Avenue, doesn’t think the plan has been well thought out.
He’s concerned about increased traffic and the survival of established businesses in the area.
Never the less, the goal is to get city council approval this fall, break ground next spring, and open in the fall of 2016.
