FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Five people are accused of using post office boxes to register to vote in Fond du Lac County.
District Attorney Eric Toney announced the charges Thursday morning. Some of the people involved were living out of travel trailers, Toney said, while others did not have stable addresses. Most of them did not know each other, he said.
Three of the five voted in the November 2020 election, Toney said.
Former President Donald Trump has questioned his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden, but reviews have failed to find widespread fraud that would have changed the results of the election.
Toney denied that the new charges implied that the 2020 results were fraudulent.
Toney is already prosecuting two other voter fraud cases. Donald Holz and Anthony Van Egtern are accused of voting while on probation for felony convictions. Holz is due in court in April for a plea and sentencing hearing. Van Egtern’s case is set for a preliminary hearing next week.
Toney is running for Wisconsin attorney general. He faces former state Rep. Adam Jarchow in the Republican primary, with the winner advancing to face Democratic incumbent Josh Kaul.
