GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Attention is growing both statewide and nationally for Titletown Brewing Company.
Last weekend, the downtown Green Bay beer maker was named large brew pub of the year at the Great American Beer Festival. Titletown also won 2 silver medals for their S.S.A. smoke beer and Johnny Blood Red, an Irish-style red ale.
“In the beer industry, this is a very, very important award and it’s highly recognized,” says Titletown Brewing Company COO Jim Kratowicz. “For us, I think it is a culmination of many, many years of hard work.”
But the one aspect that Kratowicz made clear is that Titletown remains focused on one thing.
“You can have all the attention in the world, but if you’re not producing a high quality beer or a fresh beer, or you disappoint your customers it’s not going to last for very long,” said Kratowicz.
Kratowicz says they’ve gotten a great response from their tap room, rooftop beer garden and their bottled beer that’s being distributed statewide.
“We’re experiencing a really rapid growth right now to the point where we’re having a hard time keeping up with demand,” Kratowicz said. “I think the craft beer industry is still growing at plus-20% in Wisconsin and I think we’re probably on the upper end of that curve.”
Kratowicz says they’re leery of growing too big, too fast and adds any hopes of taking Titletown beer across state lines is at least 5 years away.
