GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Packers President Mark Murphy says the leaders of the organization are in agreement, they all want Aaron Rodgers back with the team next season.
Murphy briefly touched on Rodgers in his monthly “Murphy Takes Five” column on the Packers’ website.
“Also, we are significantly over the salary cap for next year, and will have to make many difficult decisions in order to get under the cap,” wrote Murphy. “A key factor will be whether Aaron Rodgers comes back for the 2022 season. Matt, Brian, executive vice president/director of football operations Russ Ball and I are all in agreement that we want Aaron to come back. He is likely to win his fourth league MVP, is the unquestioned leader of our team and is still playing at a high level at 38.”
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur previously has said everyone is in agreement that they want Rodgers back with the Packers.
Rodgers is under contract, but it is believed they will either need to trade him or sign him to a long-term extension with the team’s current salary cap situation.
Rodgers has said he hopes to make a decision on his future soon.
