UNDATED (WTAQ) – Wednesday is “International Walk to School Day,” and a Wisconsin bicycle advocacy group is promoting dozens of local events throughout October.
The Wisconsin Bike Fed says numerous local groups are holding brisk walks and bike rides for youngsters.
The group’s website lists 122 of them. The campaign is designed to make folks aware of a state law that requires motor vehicle drivers to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
Tom Held of the Bike Fed’s “Share and Be Aware” program says most pedestrian injuries and deaths — if not all of them — could be avoided if people follow traffic laws and basic rules of the road.
