Madison, WI (WTAQ) – The State Assembly Tuesday will take up a bill that would return millions of dollars in taxpayer money, to Brown County communities.
The extra money comes from Brown County’s half-percent sales tax for Lambeau Field.
The tax was in place for 15 years, but it expired at the end of September, with a surplus of about $17 million.
Under a proposal, a quarter of that money would go to the county to redevelop the Brown County Arena.
The rest would be given to communities for things like debt reduction and property tax relief.
The State Senate has already passed the bill.
So if the Assembly approves it, the measure would go to Governor Scott Walker for his consideration.
