GREEN BAY, WI- (WTAQ) Every year for the past 8 years, WTAQ’s Jerry Bader has held a special broadcast to benefit Families of Children with Cancer of Northeast Wisconsin and this year he’s getting extra help from local firefighters.
Tuesday, November 17th is the 1st annual firefighter’s chili cook-off that will help raise money for the local organization’s Christmas party.
The broadcast is from 8:30-11am at Nicolet Bank in downtown Green Bay.
Bader says there will be a chili judging contest that includes local celebrities.
“I of course will be doing it. There are still a couple of names I’m hoping to announce soon. Three personalities from three of the Green Bay TV stations will be there.”
President of the Green Bay Fire Union, Chad Bronnkhorst is excited for the event.
“You know, I’d encourage the community to come out and support this. Get a bowl of chili, bring some toys down for those kids. What you’ll be greeted with is not only a warm feeling in your heart but you’re going to get a smile from our guys.”
Six area fire departments are involved this year including Green Bay, Bellevue, Austin Straubel International Airport, De Pere, Sheboygan and Wausau.
Jet Air has even volunteered to travel to the Sheboygan and Wausau fire departments to fly in their chili for the judging contest.
You can drop off gift donations for Families of Children with Cancer at all locations involved.
