APPLETON, WI (WRN) – A teen convicted in a fatal shooting a year ago at the Fox River Mall is scheduled to be sentenced today.
Last January 31, Dezman Ellis and Jovanni Frausto got into a confrontation at the mall in Grand Chute. Investigators say the two were arguing about a young woman, and that the then 17-year-old Ellis threatened to “shoot this place up” before pulling out a handgun, killing Frausto and injuring a second man.
Ellis was arrested days later in Des Moines and charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
In November Ellis pleaded guilty to amended charges including second-degree intentional homicide and first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
Ellis will face 40 years in prison.
