UNDATED (WTAQ) – The tragedy of the shooting rampage in San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday is being felt here in Wisconsin.
“I am horrified by the news coming out of San Bernardino,” said Wisconsin State Rep. John Macco (R-Ledgeview). “My thoughts go to those affected by this deadly shooting, and I ask that you join me in continuing to pray for peace.”
Macco, who’s in Phoenix, Arizona attending a tax conference, says as soon as he got word of the incident he was saddened.
“We’ve been intimately involved in the disabled community,” says Macco. “We’ve been the lead author of the bill which helps disabled kids, we’ve got a couple other pieces of legislation in the works, so it was personal for me.”
Macco sadly admitted that now may be the time to consider ramping up security at facilities which cater to disabled people.
Fellow state Rep. Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) issued this brief statement:
“Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We must forego political rhetoric and act now in order to address the epidemic of gun violence facing our country.”
