GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Police in Green Bay continue to investigate a shooting death on the city’s east side.
Cops were called for a disturbance and shots fire to a duplex at 815 Bellevue Street just after 11 p.m. Thursday.
“When officers arrived they located a male with a gunshot wound,” says Green Bay Police Capt. Kevin Warych during a press briefing. “He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”
Warych would not say how many shots, nor where the wounds on the 32-year-old victim were.
“The investigation is ongoing, officers are processing the crime scene, to locate witnesses,” says Warych. “Trying to put this all together to determine a motive and some leads, and that’s going to take some time.”
The victim’s name has not been released, as his family had yet to be notified Friday. Police say the public is not in any danger, but would not elaborate on how they made that determination.
If anyone has information about this incident, Green Bay Police ask you to contact them at (920) 448-3200 or Crime Stoppers at (920) 432-7867.
NEIGHBORS ON EDGE
Tawana Wright lives just across the street from the scene of Thursday night’s homicide at 815 Bellevue Street.
“I heard about three gun shots,” Wright told FOX 11. “I was actually watching television at the time, so when I heard the gun shots, they sounded pretty close, so I just rolled over on the floor and pretty much took cover.”
Wright feels if this could happen that close, why couldn’t it happen again.
Police said Friday that the neighborhood is a mix of residential units and is pretty safe. They again stressed that they do not believe the shooting was a random act.
