History was made at the LaCrosse Center this weekend as the WIAA conducted it’s first ever, Girls Individual State Wrestling Championships. Finally sanctioned by the WIAA as a championship event after several girls in recent years were given the opportunity to compete at the boys state tournament, 12 champions were crowned including several from Northeast Wisconsin.
Brooke Corrigan of De Pere High School became the first individual state champion ever when she took the title match at 100 pounds. Marinette’s Koressa Allgeyer won the 107 pound championship, Caitlyn Kelley of Florence/Niagara won the title at 120 and Hallie Krueger of New London won the gold medal at 145 pounds.
