APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about someone impersonating a lieutenant with the department.
A complaint received by deputies describes an individual who tells the victim they missed a court date and a warrant has been issued.
That fake lieutenant then tells the victim to get PayPal debit cards at a specific location and to call them back with the card and pin numbers.
The department says they don’t conduct business that way.
