UNDATED (WTAQ) – Almost 15,000 electric customers in Wisconsin were without power overnight, as a cold front blows strong winds early on this Christmas Eve.
Wisconsin Public Service had the most customers out — almost 8,400, nearly half of them in the Merrill and Rhinelander areas.
We Energies still had 3,900 outages as of 4 a.m. in and around Milwaukee.
Wind gusts have hit 56 miles per hour at Washington Island in Door County, where a high wind warning continues until noon.
The National Weather Service has wind advisories out until noon in central and northeast Wisconsin, and until 6 a.m. in Metro Milwaukee, where Waukesha has had gusts to 57 miles per hour.
