FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man charged with arson at a vacant home pleaded not guilty Friday.
58-year old Merlin Jolin also waived his preliminary hearing on five counts, including arson, court records show. No trial date is listed.
Firefighters say witnesses who saw the blaze on Allen St. called it in just before 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 16th.
The fire at the tri-level home was quickly extinguished. Witnesses also told officials, a man was seen leaving the home after the fire began. Police later found the person a block from the scene.
Merlin admitted to starting the fire, saying he did so to get warm, according to the complaint.
