GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay didn’t quite hit their Christmas Red Kettle Campaign goal for 2021.
On the last collection day, the campaign reached 96% of its $1.396 million goal, leaving a deficit of $59,000.
“[It] is a bit of a lofty goal, but we felt it was attainable,” said Community Relations and Marketing Coordinator Nicole Hanley. “It isn’t ideal, obviously, to have a bit of a deficit. But fortunately, there are still opportunities to make up for that shortfall through upcoming fundraising events that’ll take place throughout the year.”
But with the disappointment of narrowly missing that goal, Hanley says there is appreciation for the entire Greater Green Bay community.
“It’s an amazing accomplishment. For a short period of fundraising to have to make over a million dollars, it isn’t an easy task. It really took the help and support of our entire community,” Hanley told WTAQ News. “We’re so thankful to the whole community that came together and worked to get us to that point. We had a lot of supporters, there were a lot of people that were donating and sponsoring and volunteering for different events throughout the Christmas campaign.”
The Christmas Campaign supports year-round programs and services that meet the basic, spiritual, and physical needs of those that come to The Salvation Amy facilities. It accounts for 60% of the annual fundraising budget.
The Salvation Army’s fiscal year runs through September. Those who would like to make a donation can do so online at www.sagreenbay.org or by mailing a check to The Salvation Army, 626 Union Court, Green Bay, WI 54303.
