GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Community members spent Tuesday morning making a difference for the hungry in our area.
Volunteers sped to the checkout line at the seventh-annual “Race for the Hungry” in Green Bay.
The event, hosted by North Shore Bank, is a friendly competition to support local food pantries.
Two teams for the Boys and Girls Club and the Bay Area Humane Society, sprinted up and down the aisles at Pick’ N Save.
The teams filled their shopping carts with items needed at Trinity Lutheran Church Pantry on Broadway in Green Bay.
One of the participants said it’s important to help those struggling in the community.
“We do this because we love helping out with the community and being a part of the community and just helping out any way we can,” said Olivia Vechart, teller at North Shore Bank.
The winning team was the Boys and Girls Club of Green Bay.
It received a $100 gift card for their organization for helping to stock the shelves.
