GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Sifredo Gomez was convicted of robbing a drugstore at gunpoint, and will be sentenced March 22.
Gomez, 29, faces up to 40 years in the prison system after pleading no contest to armed robbery and threatening a victim.
Police say just before 2:30 a.m. on June 28, they were called to Walgreens, 116 N. Military Ave., for a report of an armed robbery. The clerk told officers a man had walked into the store, pointed a gun at her and took money from the cash register. It was estimated $788 was missing.
While police were searching for the robber, they found the gun, which turned out to be a BB gun.
During questioning, the criminal complaint says Gomez admitted stealing the gun at a different store, then robbing Walgreens.
“Sifredo stated he was very sorry for committing this armed robbery, he has a bad drug and alcohol problem, and that’s why he did it,” the complaint says.
