OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wisconsin Herd hosted the fourth annual School Day during Wednesday’s game.
The Herd invited kids from all over the state to learn about some topics during the basketball game, specifically mental health, like anti-bullying and suicide prevention.
The kids received a special gift for being part of School Day.
“They’ll be getting a lunch box that’s BMO branded,” Wisconsin Herd Team President Steve Brandes said. “Within that lunchbox and bag is basically a NAMI workbook, so NAMI is tied to mental health, and it’s a workbook for kids to work through and really identify aspects of mental health and inspire them to ask questions or talk out, seek advice, seek somebody to talk to.”
The Herd won Wednesday’s game, 104-103, over the Lakeland Magic.
