GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – President and CEO of Discover Green Bay Brad Toll said it feels like a holiday when there’s playoff football in Green Bay, but the holiday was almost entirely missing last year, as a limited number of fans were allowed to enter Lambeau Field.
Toll says this year around 80,000 people will pack the stadium, bringing millions of dollars to Green Bay.
“Typically a playoff game, because of the attention that’s given to playoff games we sometimes see more media,” said Toll. “We see pressure on the ticket prices and it ends up being a little better than $15 million.”
The restaurant industry should also see a boost.
Hinterland Brewery Manager Emily Legener says the difference between last season and this one is miles apart.
“Now that we’re at full capacity, we’re sort of seeing the same volume that we had beforehand, pre-covid times.”
She adds the restaurant’s numbers this season are comparable to 2019, and in some cases even better.
Hinterland wasn’t as busy on Sunday because the Packers had their bye, but come next weekend fans will be there hoping for another Super Bowl run.
“We’re most certainly just going to see a ton more people and I think everyone is just going to be really excited,” said Legener. “So I do think that the energy level is going to be way up during the playoff weeks.”
Some visiting guests will be staying in hotel rooms, with high occupancy rates to go along with it.
“We have about 4,800 hotel rooms in the area and we would expect occupancy of those to be in the very high 90 percentile, so probably 97%, 98% filled,” said Toll.
Both Toll and Legener hope people will come early for the game, and stay later too.
