(WNFL)- Former Packers’ safety Charles Woodson will return to the Oakland Raiders next fall. He would have been a free agent in March, but he signed a one-year contract extension yesterday to return for his 18th professional season. Woodson played his first eight years for the Raiders until he signed with Green Bay as a free agent in 2006. He helped the Packers win a Super Bowl four years ago, but was let go after the 2012 season when GM Ted Thompson didn’t believe Woodson had enough left in his tank. He has played the last two seasons with Oakland. And according to Stats Incorporated, he was on the field for a team-high 1,100 in 2014 while playing in all 16 games. Woodson led the Raiders with 160 tackles along with a sack, nine pass break-ups, and four interceptions. He’ll turn 39 in October. Only one NFL defensive back started a game at age 39, Hall-of-Famer Darrell Green, who kept playing until he was 42.
