Former West De Pere Phantom standout Jason Berken has signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and has joined the team at their spring training site in Florida. Berken is now 31 and is coming off minor knee surgery last November. He made his big league debut with the Baltimore Orioles and also pitched for the Chicago Cubs. Last year, Berken went 10-9 with a 4.64 ERA with the AAA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. In four big league seasons, Berken’s career record is 10-20 with a 5.36 ERA.
