The WIAA crowned individual state wrestling champions Saturday night before more than 13,000 fans the Kohl Center. Northeast Wisconsin was well represented led by Bay Port senior Alec Ingold who capped an undefeated season with the title at 220 pounds in Division 1. The AP state high school football player of the year went 41-0 on the mat this season. Robert Lee of Kaukauna became a three time champion in Division 1 at 138 pounds. In Division 2, Denmark’s Brock Bergelin took the title at 106 pounds while Two Rivers produced a pair of champs, Paul Bianchi at 113 and Chris Yauch at 130. Dewey Krueger of Oconto Falls made it two titles in the past three years winning at 152 pounds.
Hunter Micholichek of Pulaski at 285 and Mason Berceau of Luxemburg-Casco at 138 pounds, both reached the finals but had to settle for the silver medal.
The Team Wrestling tournament takes place this weekend in Madison.
