(WNFL)- Jimmy Nelson will make his first start of the spring today, as the Milwaukee Brewers play Kansas City in an exhibition game at Phoenix. Arizona does not make the change to Daylight Saving Time, unlike Wisconsin so the daytime Cactus League games will generally start around three pm instead of two. The 25-year-old Nelson replaces Yovani Gallardo, who was traded to Texas in the off-season. Nelson, a right-hander, has been a sensation in the minors, but has yet to show much dominance in the big leagues. He went 2-9 for Milwaukee a season ago with a 4.42 ERA. Left-hander Jason Vargas will start for the Royals this afternoon. The Brewers are 0-4 in Cactus League play, after falling to the LA Dodgers by a walk-off run yesterday after most of the starters ended their days.
