Wisconsin Rapids Assumption advanced to the Division 5 title game with a 57-43 victory over South Shore at the Resch Center this afternoon, withstanding a 30 point, D5 record setting game from South Shore’s Megan Gustafson, the top scorer in the state this year averaging 40 points per game. Gustafson scored only 8 and was in foul trouble in the first half as the Royals built a 35-16 lead. South Shore rallied to within 10 but got no closer. Macie Zurfluh led Assumption with 15. The Royals improve to 25-3 on the season. They will face Barneveld for the third consecutive year in the championship game. Assumption won in 2013, 39-35. Barveneld won last year’s rematch 38-34. The third time should be charming Saturday morning at 11:05 AM.
