Matt Bollant, the former womens’ head basketball coach at UW-Green Bay, now at the University of Illinois, is among the defendants in a civil rights suit filed by 7 former Illinois players. The lawsuit names Bollant, assistant coach Mike Divilbiss, the athletic director and university trustees, alledging the civil rights of the plaintiffs were violated. The suit alledges the coaching staff mistreated injured players, held segregated practices and were verbally abusive, all in an attempt to force the women to quit the team. The lawsuit seeks damages of 10 million dollars. The University has already launched an investigation into Bollant’s program and said it was disappointed the lawsuit was filed before that investigation had concluded. Bollant left Green Bay for Illinois in 2012.
