(WNFL) – In golf, Jerry Kelly of Madison finished 17th at the P-G-A’s John Deere Classic near the Quad Cities. Kelly shot a three-under-par 68 in his final round yesterday to finish at 13-under-271. Steve Stricker of Madison tied for 35th at nine-under-275. He continued to have struggles with his putting, in the wake of his back surgery last December. Stricker told a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter he’s so upset with his putting that he might skip his home-state PGA Championship next month near Sheboygan. But he figures he’ll cool down before then. Jordan Spieth won the tournament on the second hole of a sudden death playoff.
On the PGA Champions Tour, Rhinelander native Dan Forsman tied for 59th at the Encompass Championship near Chicago. He shot a two-over-par 218 for 54 holes.
