FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Fond du Lac County sheriff’s officials are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a home burglary.
Officials say the incident occurred Monday on County Highway F in the Township of Byron.
According to the home’s resident, a male broke the back door of the house, entered and left when realizing there was someone inside. The resident said the suspect was driving a red Chrysler 200.
The suspect drove off and was spotted by a deputy, resulting in a chase. It ended after the suspect vehicle increased speeds and crossed into the opposite lane of traffic, officials say.
The vehicle was later seen on video at a Stockbridge gas station. It was then found abandoned in Calumet County.
Detectives searched the site of the burglary and found that another incident involving the same vehicle took place minutes before. In that incident, a male knocked on the door, and when the resident answered, he said he needed directions.
Sheriff’s officials are asking residents in the county to check their homes for missing items. They are also looking for any security footage of the suspects and vehicle involved.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office at 1-920-929-3384 or 1-920-929-3380.
