GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — 2022 marks the 48th year of the Bellin Run and organizers are hoping to hold it in person.
Randy Van Straten is the vice president of business and community health at Bellin and says they really hope to bring the 10k run back, in person, in 2022.
“We would just absolutely love to have it in-person,” Van Straten said. “There’s nothing like the energy of an in-person event.”
Whether or not an in-person event happens at all depends on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“What will allow us to pull this off in-person will be the trend of positivity of COVID within the community,” Van Straten told WTAQ. “It’s been two years since we went virtual, the second year we were hoping to bring it back, but our staffing was so tied up.”
While he doesn’t expect the same level of attendance as pre-COVID years, he’s hoping for a good turnout.
“My goal is that if we can get 10,000 back on the streets again…that would be a good step in the right direction,” said Van Straten.
Registration is now open for the event on Saturday, June 11. There will still be a virtual option for those unable to participate in person.
