(WNFL) – Starting this weekend, NASCAR will scale back its overtime rules, and it could affect Wisconsin driver Matt Kenseth’s chances of advancing in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The number of attempts at a green-white-checkered overtime finish will be cut from three-to-one. If there’s a crash during the finish, the field would be frozen — and the race would end under a caution. Kenseth, a Cambridge native, needs to win the Camping World-Dot-Com 500 on Sunday in Talladega, Alabama, or else he’ll be eliminated from a chance at the season Sprint Cup title with four races left in the Chase. Sunday is the third-and-final event in the second round of the ten-race Chase. Only the Top-eight in the point standings will move on, and Kenseth is 12th after struggling in his last two races.
